Should children take vitamin supplements?
Are vitamins needed for children? Can children take vitamins supplements? How much of each vitamin should a kid be given? It is well observed that children do not enjoy vegetables, which are known to be bountious in vitamins and minerals. Does this mean they must have vitamin supplements? These are all important questions that parents regularly seek answers for.
Vitamins are, by definition, chemicals we must have for our body to function appropriately. We must have vitamins for great vision, to mature, to form bones and connective tissue, to fight infections, diseases and cancer, to heal cuts, to stop us from bleeding to death, and to retain our teeth.
So we have established that we must obtain sufficient vitamin intake to be fit. We have also realised the fact that we cannot make enough vitamins to fill our needs. We always have to to get them from exterior sources, commonly our diet and from medical supplements. Multivitamins are the most effective source for children to obtain the nutrients they must have in order to grow and develop.
An inadequate number of us eat a balanced diet, nor do many of us supply our children a daily balanced diet either. The toils of modern living have made sure we are not home very enough or have ample time to create balanced meals for ourselves and our children. Indeed, a number of people are eating out most times. Now, this is a serious problem for us as adults, but is even more important for children still growing.
As if the previous is not too much to contend with, there are periods in the lives of maturing children when they tend to be very picky about what they feed on; we are all aware of the fast-food industry. In fact, some of them don't even want to eat a thing. One of the challenges of having children is to ensure their children consume a balanced diet, but how often does this actually go on?
How about the fact that the highly processed foods of our modern age include few natural vitamins? What about the fact that even our fruit and vegetables are normally grown using farming techniques that minimize the vitamin and mineral contents? Does this not affect our abilities to find sufficient vitamins from what we consume? All these mean it is imperative we supply our children multivitamins as supplements to the vitamins they get in their food.
